2. The Fallen Classic
So here was baseball’s premier event and at 10pm Eastern they had completed 4 innings with the score 5-0. That sound you heard were thousands of people reaching for their remotes. No wonder it’s the national passed time.
I don’t know about you, but I never read long range forecasts. And that applies to sports. Deadspin tracked how accurate the preseason predictions were by baseball pundits and last season not one single “expert” picked either St. Louis or Boston to reach the World Series. This year, two guys (out of 64) actually picked Kansas City to make it but nobody predicted the Giants. So next time you see some space being wasted with seasonal predictions, do yourself a favor. Read a good book.
4. Running Amok
The other day we had a soccer player throw a haymaker at a ref. Today it’s a boxer in Croatia. Check out the 1:15 mark of the video.
The amazing part is how fast the other boxer hightailed it out of the ring without helping the poor ref. Top 5 subscriber N.M. thinks the offending boxer should be fined and suspended. How about jailed for assault?
5. Like Peas in a Pod
The New Year’s Bowl game in Orlando will the called the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl. Yup, nothing goes together quite as well as spicy wings and a citrusy drink. What’s next, Guantanamo Bay sponsoring the Liberty Bowl? What, too political? You got a better bowl/sponsor connection?
